Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accountant assists with daily general accounting, and the month-end and year-end close process. Staff Accountant responsibilities include posting daily cash activity, reconciling account balances and preparing month-end journal entries. The Staff Accountant also assists other Staff Accountants and Accounting Supervisor with the preparation of monthly, and year to date analysis of account balances. The Staff Accountant will also assist with the preparation of materials for the year-end audit, as well as benefit plan audits, and tax filings.
Essential Functions
Responsible for posting daily cash activity, including depositing checks and coding bank transactions
Supports month-end and year-end close process
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries
Reconciles certain balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Assists with the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements
Produces error-free accounting reports as requested
Updates and confirms new recurring entries
Processes monthly accruals, assists with researching and resolving actual vs. budget issues on a monthly basis
Assists the Accounting Supervisor with the preparation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Assists with the preparation of audit schedules as well as other analyses for the year-end audit.
Assists with federal, state and local tax schedules and filings
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work & Travel
This is a full-time position.
Qualifications
2+ years of accounting experience required
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
