Pentucket Bank has been a long time supporter of Merrimack Valley Hospice and the patients and families served by the agency. Recently, the bank made a $50,000 lead gift in support of the 7 suite expansion of the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

“This lead gift in support of the Hospice House expansion is a testament to Pentucket Bank’s commitment to our community,” said John G. Albert, President of the Home Health Foundation which includes Home Health VNA, Merrimack Valley Hospice and HomeCare, Inc.  “The bank is one of the first organizations to support the campaign to expand Merrimack Valley Hospice House. By making a lead gift they are helping us leverage other financial support to ensure the Hospice House is available to all patients in need.”

“Pentucket Bank is honored to provide support to an organization that fills a key void in the healthcare system in our region,” said Scott Cote, President of Pentucket Bank.  “The Board of Trustees and I know firsthand that Merrimack Valley Hospice House is a special place, and an invaluable resource to our community.”

Since Merrimack Valley Hospice House opened in June 2009 it has been operating at or near capacity, serving more than 1,500 patients.  Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for a 21 suite facility, the Hospice House was designed for a two-phase construction:  the initial 14 suites, then, a final phase of 7 suites at a time when occupancy and demand for services exceeded capacity.  No one anticipated that time would come so quickly.

The addition of the new wing will allow for 21 private patient suites in total, of which 2 can accommodate pediatric patients.  All suites feature skylights, a private bathroom and seating and space for loved ones to visit at any time of day or night. The wing will reflect the existing peacefulness of a home setting with patios, family gathering area, a care station and several common areas.

Merrimack Valley Hospice is the leader in hospice care. Together with affiliate organizations Home Health VNA and HomeCare, Inc., the not-for-profit organizations form a unique and comprehensive continuum of the highest quality home health and hospice care for patients and families.
