Volunteer
Volunteering
Merrimack Valley Hospice offers many meaningful volunteer opportunities. Volunteers come from all walks of life, with varied experiences and skills. Each shares the desire to make a difference through their presence – a true gift to our hospice patients and families.
Many volunteers work in private homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and York County, Maine as well as at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA. Others donate their time and talent helping in the administrative offices, on special projects or assist at fundraising events.
Volunteers receive specialized training and ongoing education, much like our clinical staff, as they are critical members of the hospice team*.
*Training and TB testing are not required for volunteers who exclusively assist with administrative support and special events.
We Honor Veterans
We are honored to serve those that have served in the military.
Merrimack Valley Hospice is proud to participate in the We Honor Veterans program, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Through this program, hospice professionals across the country focus on a single purpose: to provide comfort and support to veterans at the end of their lives.
America’s veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country and we believe it’s never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home. It’s an honor to serve these men and women with the dignity they deserve; it’s our way of saying thank you for the sacrifices they have made in serving us.
