Two levels of care are offered at High Pointe House:
- General Inpatient care – for patients in need of acute medical and nursing care for the management of pain and other symptoms and for the administration of medications that can only be provided in a hospital, long term care facility, or licensed hospice residence. Medicare and private health insurance typically fully cover this level of care.
- Routine care – for patients who are unable to receive hospice care at home for a variety of non-medical reasons. Medicare and health insurance typically cover the medical costs associated with the terminal illness. The patient or family assumes responsibility for applicable room and board fees.
High Pointe House is available to patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day providing increased access to palliative and hospice care for patients and families when care at home is no longer viable. Respite care, a break from caregiving, is provided under the Routine level of care for up to five days allowing the primary caregiver access to rest or time to attend an important family function.
